A Topping / Bottoming Turbine is useful, in case of changed inlet & exhaust steam condition. In case of a Bottoming Turbine application, the surplus exhaust / extraction steam from an existing steam turbine can be utilized in another Bottoming Turbine, which could be of back pressure or condensing design. A Topping Turbine can be used in a way that the exhaust steam from the Topping Turbine can be used in existing steam turbine.
